Shanghai Pujiang Cable Co., Ltd. acquired high recognition for its main cables sent out to the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge in the USA
At 8:00 am of June 7, the second batch of main cables was sent from Shanghai, China, and will arrive at the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge in the USA in late June. This is another overseas project of single-tower self-anchored suspension bridge with world longest span contracted by Shanghai Pujiang Cable Co., Ltd. after finishing previously contracted bridge construction projects including Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Bombay, India, Machang Bridge in South Korea, Machang Bridge in South Korea, etc.
Construction of San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge has extremely high technical requirements for main cables. The current manufacturing technology of hexagonal cables was modified, requiring that each single cable strand shall reach a length of 1,350m or above, 2 sections with a length of 90m each of which shall be turned from hexagon into square, and accuracy error of cable length shall not exceed 1/15000. Such highly sophisticated manufacturing technology had never been applied to any constructed suspension bridge or that under construction in China. In accordance with the requirements stipulated in the technical documents provided by the U.S. partner, Shanghai Pujiang Cable Co., Ltd. elaborately manufactured all cables needed for construction of the bridge with high quality, and therefore acquired high praise from the resident supervising engineer of the U.S. partner, “All cables manufactured by Pujiang Cable are high-class. We are very grateful to general manager Zhu Jiayu and his team for their great efforts.”
Shanghai Pujiang Cable Co., Ltd, with an annual output of 150,000 tons, is currently world biggest manufacturing base of cables for architectures and bridges.
